They Are Done

Its taken me just over a year but the blankets are finally finished.
I'm sure the kiddos will love them.
It is a terrifically easy pattern and I am thinking of using my stash to make a crazy ripple.

HB and I were going to take them as our onboard luggage but then decided to box em and mail em.
I'm a little apprehensive about doing this but have to have some faith in our postal system.

Pretty in Pink

After months of planning my daughter Siobhan's baby shower was on.
I spent most of the week before making tissue paper flowers.

Making a diaper wreath.

Mandi made this awesome diaper cake!!

Prepping loot bags (how can you have a party without thanking all who came)

Shopping for decorations and food.
Cooking up eggs for egg salad sandwiches.
Baking a four level rainbow cake
Amazing what you can do with a white cake mix and a few tablespoons of jello powder.

All of a sudden our house was filled to the brim with friends and a lot of love and laughter.
Siobhan's friends from Toronto ( Heather and Mandi ) and I kept this thing a secret although Siobhan being my daughter figured we were all acting "strange"
There were little splashes of pink everywhere.

Oh well she was thrilled and seemed to enjoy herself.
Although her big sister Holly could not be here we made sure she was part of the celebration.

The theme of the shower was a very loose interpretation of "The Mad Hatters Tea Party"
So of course we had lots of teas --- although the cucumber water I served seemed to be the most popular.

And guests were asked to wear "garden party hats"

There were egg salad sandwiches with dill.
Cucumber, cream cheese, and chive sandwiches
A Greek platter ----- hummus, tzatiki, olives, feta
Lots of fresh veggies.
Jam tarts.
Grapes and
That four layer cake
HB took Will (daddy to be) and David (Mandi's BF) to our local pub for a beer and some male bonding.
Of course they were back in time for gift opening..
Our friends were very kind and generous to the new parents to be.

Look forward to meeting you ---- Daphne Iris Evelyn
It was a lovely afternoon.
Thank you everybody!

I won ! I won !

See what I received in the mail today.
It's the apron I won!!!!

Just in time for Easter baking  :)

Golf and Kitty Kats

Kind of a rough night here @ 44!

HB and son in law Will left last Friday for a 10 day golf vacay in Myrtle Beach.

HB's bro (Robert) and nephew (Scott) make up the rest of the quartet.

Siobhan and I are spending most of the 10 days together.
She is the momma of MacGuffin whom I have written about recently.
You know the $2000.00 kitty.

She came out on Thursday with MacGuffin and new girl Shelley in tow.
She has another fella ,Mulligan, who is part of the source of MacGuffin's stress.
Anyway long story short she felt she needed to go home and do some Mully cuddles

taking Shelley but leaving MacG here.

Good for MacG Bad for my girls Addy and Lucky who have been hiding out under my bed.

Last night it came to blows with MacG and Lucky ---- Lots of Hissing  Spitting  Fur flying  and a bit of Peeing!!
I came downstairs to find MacG cowering behind the sofa and  Lucky sitting in the front room window.
Of course it upset me too and I was awake A LOT just checking everyone.
Seems they are okay.
All have eaten their breakfast.
Certainly still not friends.
Wish us luck.

Looks like a Rainy  Freezing Rain   Snowy day
Thank goodness I don't have to go anywhere.
So maybe a curl up on the sofa.  Tea.  Find an old movie.  Knitting..

Easiest Baby Beany Ever

I was in baby beany mode when Miles and Riley
were getting ready to enter this world.

And now with my third grand baby on the way I am at it again.
I also made a few to donate to the hospital that they were born in.
I plan to do the same this time.
This is the easiest and quickest little project and I can usually get one done in a couple of evenings "watching" TV.
You are only restricted by your imagination with colour combos or a solid colour.
Here is my first one done!

Baby Beany (newborn)
 yarn sports weight
needle 3.25 mm double pointed

Cast on 72 stitches. Divide evenly (24 on 3 needles)
Join and work 6 rounds of k2, p2 ribbing

Knit 24 rounds.

For shaping
Round 1 and all odd rounds: Knit
Rnd 2: *knit 4, knit 2 together; repeat between *s -- 60 stitches
Rnd 4: *knit 3, knit 2 together; repeat between  *s -- 48 stitches
Rnd 6: *knit 2, knit 2 together; repeat between *s -- 36 stitches
Rnd 8: * knit 1, knit 2 together; repeat between *s -- 24 stitches
Rnd 10: knit 2 together around -- 12 stitches
Knit one more round even.
Cut tail and thread through remaining loops. Pull tight and tie off. Weave in ends

Cuz Siobhan asked me to Update...............

A  Birthday

A sick  Grand Kitty

New Books

Coffee Catchup

3 Weeks Strong

My sweet baby girl has turned 29.

We visited with her and her hubby.
Watched a hockey game ---- O Please will someone put the Ottawa Sens out of their misery?
Ordered the most delicious Indian feast from Karara.

Unfortunately her birthday was overshadowed by her sick boy MacGuffin.

A couple years ago he almost died from a blocked urethra.
But after lots of treatment, days in the hospital, and copious amounts of drugs he was better. $$$$$$$$$$$
Fast Forward ------ he was acting strange again so they rushed him the  clinic emerg and he was blocked AGAIN!!!
Well this time he didn't have to be in as long but he has a lot of meds and he seems to be peeing perfectly. :)

I finished reading  "The Book Thief" and I highly recommend it.

Not sure I will see the movie. I am always disappointed in the movie adaptation.

Just received my next books in the mail.
Started "The Goldfinch" by  Donna Tartt. I have been hearing good things about this book.

Its a hefty one -- over 600 pages.

The second book is "The Favored Child" by Phillipa Gregory
I have read numerous books by this author and have enjoyed them all.

She writes historical fiction around English Tudor times.

Had a great coffee catch up with my friend Chris.
Its been a while since we did this and it was terrific getting the skinny on each other.

The weight loss journey is going fine.
I am deciding to give myself leeway on this journey.
In that I am only weighing in on Fridays and realizing that a 1 to 2 pound loss per week is the healthy way to do it.

Looks like spring is taking its good sweet time getting here.
We have done something to Mama Nature and I think we have pissed her off!!
Sorry!!!!
