Easiest Baby Beany Ever

I was in baby beany mode when Miles and Riley
were getting ready to enter this world.

And now with my third grand baby on the way I am at it again.
I also made a few to donate to the hospital that they were born in.
I plan to do the same this time.
This is the easiest and quickest little project and I can usually get one done in a couple of evenings "watching" TV.
You are only restricted by your imagination with colour combos or a solid colour.
Here is my first one done!

Baby Beany (newborn)
 yarn sports weight
needle 3.25 mm double pointed

Cast on 72 stitches. Divide evenly (24 on 3 needles)
Join and work 6 rounds of k2, p2 ribbing

Knit 24 rounds.

For shaping
Round 1 and all odd rounds: Knit
Rnd 2: *knit 4, knit 2 together; repeat between *s -- 60 stitches
Rnd 4: *knit 3, knit 2 together; repeat between  *s -- 48 stitches
Rnd 6: *knit 2, knit 2 together; repeat between *s -- 36 stitches
Rnd 8: * knit 1, knit 2 together; repeat between *s -- 24 stitches
Rnd 10: knit 2 together around -- 12 stitches
Knit one more round even.
Cut tail and thread through remaining loops. Pull tight and tie off. Weave in ends

Cuz Siobhan asked me to Update...............

A  Birthday

A sick  Grand Kitty

New Books

Coffee Catchup

3 Weeks Strong

My sweet baby girl has turned 29.

We visited with her and her hubby.
Watched a hockey game ---- O Please will someone put the Ottawa Sens out of their misery?
Ordered the most delicious Indian feast from Karara.

Unfortunately her birthday was overshadowed by her sick boy MacGuffin.

A couple years ago he almost died from a blocked urethra.
But after lots of treatment, days in the hospital, and copious amounts of drugs he was better. $$$$$$$$$$$
Fast Forward ------ he was acting strange again so they rushed him the  clinic emerg and he was blocked AGAIN!!!
Well this time he didn't have to be in as long but he has a lot of meds and he seems to be peeing perfectly. :)

I finished reading  "The Book Thief" and I highly recommend it.

Not sure I will see the movie. I am always disappointed in the movie adaptation.

Just received my next books in the mail.
Started "The Goldfinch" by  Donna Tartt. I have been hearing good things about this book.

Its a hefty one -- over 600 pages.

The second book is "The Favored Child" by Phillipa Gregory
I have read numerous books by this author and have enjoyed them all.

She writes historical fiction around English Tudor times.

Had a great coffee catch up with my friend Chris.
Its been a while since we did this and it was terrific getting the skinny on each other.

The weight loss journey is going fine.
I am deciding to give myself leeway on this journey.
In that I am only weighing in on Fridays and realizing that a 1 to 2 pound loss per week is the healthy way to do it.

Looks like spring is taking its good sweet time getting here.
We have done something to Mama Nature and I think we have pissed her off!!
Sorry!!!!

Potpourri Post

I feel kind of behind the times right now.
Maybe in a bit of a winter blues funk.
But the sun is shining today and it is just creeping above zero.

I also want to thank those of you who have been encouraging me to keep up with this blogging thing.

And the time springs ahead tonight.
Got a new do and I have started a weight loss journey.

Deb and I are chatting about getting back to our walks.

Made these hobo mitts to wear while out taking pics with HB.

These are a MARTHA STEWART pattern and are the easiest fastest knit up.
He is well into his second month of his Lanark Big Year.
Click HERE to read about it.
Unfortunately it has been a dreadful start and the birds are few and far between.
Although there seems to be a plethora of Blue Jays.

Here are some silly pics of

Miles

and Riley

We will be welcoming a new granddaughter the end of July.

HAPPY just does not seem to be enough of a word to express our feelings!
Of course now I am working on wee baby things.
Next on the list wee hats!

Still working on the second blanket for my Alberta grand kiddos!

Hope you all enjoy the weekend and that spring comes soon for you!

OOPsy

I apologize for my last post if I have led you down the garden path.
This is what we still look like here in Carleton Place (west of Ottawa Ontario)
The pics that were posted were from last spring and wishful thinking.
Happy First day of March

Sneaking Away

Spent a glorious week in the Caribbean with very dear friends.

Yes a week of sun sun sun
Lots and Lots of time spent sitting on the patio of the Pirate's Den

Sipping Daiquiris or Margaritas.

Lots of toe resting on the beach

Beautiful Hibiscus everywhere.

Gorgeous Sunsets every night.

Now here we are back in the frozen north.
Good to be home but sad to still see the snow and those below zero temperatures..........

I made up some suet just before Christmas and have hung them on the apple tree

I used my donut baking pan to mold these ones.

.....And clothes line

Used my Bundt pan for this one

Our heated water bath attracts A Lot of winged visitors

The Goldfinches and a House Finch facing the morning sun to "get the chill off"

HB's Big Year

A couple years ago HB did an Ontario Big Year and had quite a bit of success.
Now that he is capital "S" semi retired he has lots of time to do another.
However this time he is concentrating on the county we live in -- Lanark.
You can read all about it here ---

I usually tag along once a week to be another set of eyeballs and take some pictures.

The weather has been okay although the last couple of times we've been out it has not been conducive to good picture taking
We usually pack up a lunch, a few cookies, and the always welcome tea thermos.

A few weeks ago we were ready to head home when HB got a text from one his birding buddys saying there were Snowy Owls sighted.
So off we went in search of them.
After searching close to an hour we were ready to give up when SWOOP this guy flew across a field and landed majestically on a light standard.
SUCCESS!!

Magical Reindeer Mix

I want to give a shout out to Crafty Gardener
For this truly magical idea
This is a mixture of bird seed, oats, and Christmas sprinkles so Santa's reindeer will be able to see your house!
I sent some to my sweet grand kiddos in Alberta.
The kiddys were suffering from a nasty flu bug starting a few days before Christmas .
Riley having it way worse than Miles.
She was really sick for about 5 days ( vomiting, diarrhea, and not wanting to eat anything.)
We were all very concerned .
So daughter Holly took Miles outside Christmas Eve to scatter the mix.
Riley dragged her sick little self outside to help her brother.
It was terrific to see her wee smile doing this.

Riley is feeling much better and eating terrifically..

Christmas Wrap and Battle Mode

Today I am fighting some kind of nasty bug that I fear is winning the battle.
My plans for an end of the year wrap have been thwarted
However I have a few pics to give you an idea of our Christmas.

The holiday season started with a horrendous snowstorm which guaranteed a white Christmas.

Iain made his traditional Challah for dinner.

A little something in "Poppy's"  (new grandbabys name until we find out what gender) stocking

Will's fav candy

A special cat in a box ornament my girls' Grandma gave them when they were very wee.
They decided to share ---- sending it back and forth each Christmas.

A little Christmas Day lunch snack

My boys (minus 2) manning the dinner prep

Will at the mashed potatoe station

HB at the turkey carving station
