Monday in the Garden

After a couple of days of near monsoon type weather it has relaxed and we are having normal type days.
Iain and I spent Sunday puttering altho it was still quite dampish.
Yesterday I got more weeding done and planted more beans and onions.
These are just a few pics I took!

 Called a Butterfly Weed .
I know I know actually planting something that has weed in its name!
But it is a lovely plant and must be 4 feet high!
Hope it attracts those flutterbys!
 Sun drops or evening primrose.
As the name suggests it flowers during the day and then drops but flowers the next day!
Yellow Loosesrtife (yes related to the purple but not invasive)
And whispery white Astilbe
 Lovely Lavender
Time to make Lemon Lavender Madeleines
More Sun Drops and Lychnis (part of the Rose Campion family)

 Our pond.
The duckweed wintered over and has produced lots which is good as it is an oxygenator.
We have 2 leopard frogs in residence and an eastern gray tree frog that we can hear but have not seen as yet.
Lots and lots of water beetles and bugs

Our neighbours dog enjoying the shade of their Honey Locust tree!

Hard to say Good bye

After a very short battle with cancer we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy Guiness.
It was a devastaing decsion for our whole family.
My girls were little when we adopted him and he was very special to Siobhan who always had a bed buddy even after she moved out and only spent occasional nights here.
I am grateful they were all here for Father's day so each got to say their own special good byes.
Uh oh I am going to start crying again!

Good Bye sweet boy we will miss your sweet funny face

No Words

Guiness is still being lethargic and slept under our bed all night.
This morning I tried coaxing him with a wee bit of salmon.
He seemed interested but didn't have any.
If he doesn't improve today I will take him back to Dr Hall.
I worry more about the fact that he isn't drinking!

Sad Sad news .
My sister's best friend Karen lost her son of 19 after a two year battle with cancer.
I can't even imagine what she is going through.
Losing a child has got to be one of the most debillatating things that could happen to one.

It makes me reflect on the last five years on the number of family and friends we have lost to the horrific thing.
I feel very thankful and blessed that Iain was diagnosed early enough and was able to fight!

Still a Worry

Took G to see Dr Cara this afternoon.
After blowing my next years vet budget on blood work and urinalysis we find there is nothing wrong with his kidney or liver functions.
So why won't he be Guiness!!!!!
There isn't a whole lot more to be done.
Maybe he got into some not so pleasant stuff outside or got swiped by a car or got into a tiff with one of  the hundreds of feral males around here or or or or or !!!
He is on an acute pain med so hopefully it will make him feel a bit better but right now it is just making him drool and look really spacey.
July 2009

He is still hiding and has not eaten anything but a couple of kibbles today.
Dr Hall gave him some fluids cuz he was dehydrated.
Even the other two know something is up.
I have had a very worrisome day and I suspect my night will be the same.
Strange how worry can exhaust you!

Wednesday Worry

A wee bit worried today. Guiness is hiding under the spare room bed and won't come out!!
Didn't eat his breakfast and when I talk to him he gives me a very plaintiff "meow" .
I did find a huge (and I won't go into any more description) hork up in the laundry room.
Yes and by saying find I mean stepped in!
Hope the ole boy is okay.

Neglected House

Today I am dedicating to cleaning!
The last few weeks I have been so caught up in other things that my poor house has been abused.
Dust is piling, there are cat hair tumbleweeds floating around, inside plants need watering yada yada yada!!

Had a good weekend.
Saturday I worked our local Art Fair which seemed to be very successful.

Iain played a game of golf!

Sunday we puttered around and then went to Ballygiblin's for supper!!

Engagement Notice

Our girl Siobhan and her boy Will are officially engaged
Congrats guys!
We couldn't be happier for them!!

Finally Some Heat

Well we asked for it and now it is here.
The last few days have been absolutely wonderful -- HOT and HUMID!
It takes awhile to do things but is it really that awful that we are forced to take things easy?
I have decided to rev up the old Pfaff and get some sewing projects done.
I forgot how much I loved it.

Right now I am working on burp cloths and bibs
I picked these lovelies yesterday morning and the petals are now dancing on my table.
 Loverly lupines!
My latest knitting project.
I have the babies sweaters to finish but just can't get inspired to get the wool out.
Quicky projects are great to do sitting on the patio or lazing on the front porch!

Holly had an ultrasound today and Miles is 5.7 pounds Riley is 5.3. Whew no wonder my poor girl is uncomfortable. She has an OB appoinment next Thursday to decide whether a section is in order

Treasures from India

Iain spent 10 days in India just getting back last weekend.
Knowing my love of elephants he brought back this little fella and his peacock friend
The company rep in India sent these for me!!

Iain brought me back this lovely bracelet too. It is silver with enamel inlay of you guessed it elephants

Don't I have a terrific hubby!!

Garden Explosion

I was only away for one week!!!! Amazing what can happen.

Went to the Garden Centre and what did I see
Lots and Lots of herbs and annuals
That came home with me
 About to Burst Peonies
 Potential veggy patch
Poppies and Iris and Lupines --- O my!

 Columbine
 White Bleeding Heart
An early Peony

So I am back for 3 days now and I have been a whirlwind trying to get caught up on everything -- house, cats, laundry, garden and my volunteer stuff!
I am hoping to spend the weekend in the garden but now I hear rain is in the forecast ALL weekend. You know what I have a snazzy pair of leopard wellys that may get a work out. I am determined to get gardens in and plants transferred.
Today I am distributing flyers to various businesses in town to promote our local Art at the Station!
I am hoping it doesn't take too long this morning to do. I have lots of planters I would like to plant up.
I am taking my camera with me to take some shots of our fab town.

Guiness is exhausted just listening to me!!
