Weekend Update

Snowstorm is over.
After a snowy windy day yesterday the sun is shining today.
I have decided not to talk too much about it after all
This is southeastern Ontario and Yes we do get snowstorms.
I will say thank you to Gpa W for giving HB his snow blower and thanks to a very dear friend John C for overhauling the thing.
It does making the cleaning up process a wee bit better.
I've been working on an afghan for a friend's daughter.
It is a simple granny square and very enjoyable to just pick up and do a couple whenever.

I made up a few Valentine's to attach to a couple of goody bags.
I bought small notecards from Michael's and valentine's stickers.
I used my decorative scissors to make fancy cuts to the notes.
Then simply applied the stickers to front.

Wednesday evening we had friends in for a meal.
Our friends are having a rough week as it is a year ago this week they lost their twin grand babies.

I made a simple turkey meatloaf but added dried oregano, sundried tomatotoes, and feta.
Served it with garlic mahed potatoes and buttered green beans with toasted almonds.
I also made a gluten free lemon pudding cake.
Well it didn't quite cut it.
So on Saturday I pulled my own recipe for it and replaced the wheat flour with my rice flour mix.
SUCCESS!!
I have read you only need to replace the GF mix for the wheat flour mix in most things.

Cream 1 TBSP butter with 2 thirds of a cup white sugar.
Add 3 TBSP white flour or flour mix* and juice and zest of one lemon
Beat 2 egg yolks well and add 1 cup of milk
Stiffly beat 2 egg whites in a separate bowl.
Fold egg whites into egg yolk mixture
Butter a small (approximately 6 X 8 or 3 to 4 small ramekins) baking dish with butter.
Pour mixture into dish
Bake @ 350 placing pudding in a dish of hot water (bain marie)
Bake 20 to 30 minutes

*The rice flour blend that I used is: 1 cup white rice flour, 1 cup brown rice flour, 2/3 cup potato starch, 1/3 cup tapioca starch.

I picked up this lovely little jug in Camrose while visiting.
Oh, you didn't know I collect jugs and I love westerns!

Ready for a new project!!

Your afghan looks gorgeous and that looks like a good, hardy meal. You have really been busy. Glad you are feeling better. Love the jug and of course the daisies just top it off. I found myself the prettiest tea-cup I have ever laid eyes on today. Can't stay out of those antique shops. Have a good Sunday.
