Away

Finally was able to spend a whole day in the garden on Saturday.
Got plants transferred , beds weeded, tulips cut back, bird baths cleaned,
feeders topped up, hummingbird feeder filled, patio swept and sat on the patio!
It was a very good day and the shower at the end felt fabulous.

Tuesday I am on my way to Halifax.
My younger sister turns the big 5 - 0.
So I will spend a week eating, drinking, staying up way too late and just generally have a good time!
Me, been 50 for a wee bit, my soon to be 50 year old sister, Beth and my turned 50 a couple years ago sister , Paula

Volunteering and Artists

I spent the better part of today volunteering at our local art gallery.
It is what used to be the Carleton Place Train Station and when CN decided to not stop here anymore it was converted into a day care and now it houses a few business the Chamber of Commerce and Arts Carleton Place!
There are so many talented people in our area it really is a shame we aren't better known.
Although we are trying -- we are now on FaceBook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arts-Carleton-Place/114828921933327?sk=wall

So now I am enjoying a cup of tea on the back deck --- YAY finally able to sit outside.
Guiness splayed on the deck beside me.

Tomorrow is garden day!!
And in the evening I am going to a local restaurant (Tilly's) that is featuring a local band!
There is also a raffle for an original piece of art!!

Enjoy the long weekend.
Be safe!

Look What I Found

I found some sunshine and blue skies
So I went for a skip around the garden

See! A reflection in the pond ---- more evidence!
Even my tree man looks unbelieving
 Pretty orange parrot tulips
 Bumble bees bumbling.
I call these my peppermint tulips
Squirrel taking a rest after completely emptying the peanut holder
Momma when you coming in to feed us?
Hope these can go away soon

Not so much!

After talking to Aunty Deb about Guiness' condition she suggested Spiralena.
It is an algae powder that strenghens the immune system. So tonight we gave it a try.
Wellllllll the first impression is not so good. even mixing the wet food with a wee bit of crunchies meh.
I will not give up. We will try it again ---- maybe I'll reduce the amount just to get them used to it.
They did like the flax seed oil I added to help with the hair balls.

Monday Already

Woke up to another dull grey day!
I look at my gardens and wonder when will I be able to get out there and start.....
I guess I shouldn't complain too much at least it doesn't look like this

We are promised 21 and a wee bit less rain on Thursday.
I am hoping to slip on my leopard wellys and get something done.

May has been a crazy month!
I really have to set aside a few hours and organise my thoughts and deeds list!

I know it sounds like I am complaining and I guess I am a wee bit
BUT
I have little babies to look forward to
and
that makes up for everything!!

Point Pelee Park

 The trilliums were absolutely everywhere.

Yellow warbler singing his little brains out.

 A Veery (Thrush)

A lovely Caspian Tern in amongst the gulls.

 Barn Swallow

 On his nest

It was fun watching the swallows swooping into the puddles collecting mud and sticks

Mr Turkey lookin fine for the Mrs

 Scarlet Tanager peeking at us

A very wet Redwinged Blackbird but it didn't stop him from singing to his mate

Of course lots of geese and lots of what geese do!

It was a great trip and we saw lots of birds. There were storms almost every day so it brought them in and made them stay. The mornings were pretty rough being up at 5:45 and not back to our hotel til almost 7:30. We drank bad coffee and I'm sure ingested way too much fatty food. This week I will be eating salad and salmon. I think I have developed some kind of heel spur so no running this week ---- ice paks and advil.
