How I Spent My Tuesday

We are a little sad here these past few days. Guiness had his annual checkup with Dr. Cara and we think he has developed fibrocarcinoma on his left hip. It happens occasionally at the vaccination injection site. We have opted to not put him through the surgery and keep a close eye on him for signs of pain.Of course that may be more difficult than we think as cats do not display pain the way we do. He doesn't seem to be too bad as he is eating and drinking and can jump the 4 foot high wall to the front window window to be let in.He has to go for blood work so that when the time comes they can decide what the best course of action is. He is our special boy and will continue to get his morning treat of toast and maybe just a few more little pieces!

I'm sorry to hear this, Susan. I hope it is one of these slow moving things and that he is with us for years to come. I stopped all-together getting vaccinations for my cats once they turned 5 years. I was told by a vet that they can do more harm than good if they get them every year. Apparently, 5 years of vaccines will do a cat it's lifetime. Keep me posted on Guinness. He's a dear boy.
