Blow Baby Blow

What a day.
Winds are blowing @ 60 kmh.
I have chased my garbage cans twice down the street. finally putting them in the garage.
There are tree branches everywhere and our patio furniture is toppled over.

Off to Holly and Dan's this weekend. Decorating Miles and Riley's room.
Dan has promised pizza for tomorrow night.
Us Wilkes love our za!!
Pics next week

Au revoir Montreal

What a light show last night! It was a wonderfully mild day although very wet!!

I saw a couple of of the little outdoor pussy cats scurry under our front deck. Poor little guys were probably petrified. I know of 3 little indoor pussy cats who disappeared to spots unknown until the storm ceased!

Hockey Night in Carleton Place

Well the Habs did it and won the game last nite to play Boston tonight! Looks like more nail biting!

The Canucks did it! Winning by 1 - 0 until 1 minute and 32 secs left in the third BOOM Hawks score!! OT time -- not long into it and wham scorrrrrrrre. Now onto the Nashville Predators. It is a slow morning for me as it was way past 1:00 when I turned my light out.

Can you tell I  kinda like hockey and goalies in particular!!??

Easter Bunnies and Leaky Fridge

 Another terrific meal together.

Hmmmm why is my fridge making that very weird grumbling sound.
My sweety says"don't worry it is probably just a loose piece of metal"!
O-O-O-O-K!
However Saturday morning and the ice cubes were not.
A quick call to a local repair guy--- yup he can come but not til Monday morning!
So everything is pretty much spoiled.

Monday morning and deep down cleaning the living room.
Laundry flapping on the clothes line.
Fridge is repaired --- thank you Carsten's Appliance!!

How I Spent My Tuesday

We are a little sad here these past few days. Guiness had his annual checkup with Dr. Cara and we think he has developed fibrocarcinoma on his left hip. It happens occasionally at the vaccination injection site. We have opted to not put him through the surgery and keep a close eye on him for signs of pain.Of course that may be more difficult than we think as cats do not display pain the way we do. He doesn't seem to be too bad as he is eating and drinking and can jump the 4 foot high wall to the front window window to be let in.He has to go for blood work so that when the time comes they can decide what the best course of action is. He is our special boy and will continue to get his morning treat of toast and maybe just a few more little pieces!

Well Happy Monday

Here we go with another week. I have spent the best part of today dusting, cleaning and washing floors. I have been very inspired by reading some other blogs that I have come across. Some people are uber organised and obviously have way more energy than I have. I still have lots of spring cleaning to do and I am using this dreadful weather as my excuse for not doing so. I think I may have to be my own inspiration!!

Sunday was Holly's Shower. She enjoyed herself very much and got lots of nice things .
 Diaper cakes for babies
 I second that emotion!
Lots of nummy food!
 So many gifts! Spoiled babies!!!

Shower and squirrels

taken 2009
Iain is home now after his week in Myrtle Beach. Sounds like he had a great time. Thank goodness he didn't have to take off to Korea this morning--- which had been the plan!

Yesterday I did my big clean for the week so today I am doing odds and sods. Holly's shower is this Sunday so I have a few little fun things to do for that. Since my friends are organising I can enjoy the fun stuff. It will be here @ 44 only because everyone who is coming knows how to get here with the exception of Dan's mere whom I will be giving directions. Pictures will follow next week.

Had a terrific wind storm / thunder storm last nite (well early this morning) so I was chasing styrofoam eggs off my forsythia branches. It seems to me I had more crocuses to come up but where are they? Do squirrels eat crocus corms too??

Garden and Fairies

What an absolutely wonderful spring day. Sunny and 16 degrees (C). I had my usual Saturday morning ritual ---a Western and a couple cups of coffee. Then laundry on the line and out to start cleaning up.

Even though there were still ice patches and frozen ground in the garden I did cut back a lot of plants. I didn't do any raking as I thought the ground was just too mucky! I got the patio swept of spent sunflower seeds. I would never stop feeding the birds and the occasional squirrel but boy what a mess to clean up in the spring. On the other hand it makes you feel accomplished when the patio looks cleaned up. I moved the feeders to the back and brought out the REAL bird baths. Of course the birds have found it all and as I was coming in I saw a grackel having a bath with a couple hanging around waiting their turn

Here is my spring planter. Yahoo for pansies!! I love their smiling little faces that almost say welcome. I added some pussy willow stalks and a few silk forsythia branches. There are also a few little Easter eggs hanging from the branches.
And yes I still have a few patches of snow in the garden as well.
Here is a little fairy made by one of our local artists , Brenda Milne. I got this at the Christmas Art Show at the Train Station Gallery. She works in different mediums and right now is one of the featured artists at Ballygiblin's.

Ciao for now!!

Visits

Got my upstairs sparkly clean and the cat hair sucked from my family room sofa! My new vacuum is awesome -- it has cyclonic action and is electric blue! Gotta find a name for him (yes I have decided it is a male vacuum).
Had a terrific visit with Kathy J last nite,. Been since last August since we saw each other so lots to talk about.
Taking the crew to see Dr Hall this afternoon. It is always a challenge to get all three in crates. I really believe they are psychic and can read my mind when this annual adventure happens. Some years i can get all three but most years it is two then make another appointment at another day. Guiness isn't hard to get - just shake the treat jar and woila there he is (kinda like magic). Lucky and Addy on the other hand are more of a challenge.

This is where they would much rather be!!

Had my hair done yesterday so checked out the new Home Sense and Michael's on Hazeldean Rd. I think I may have to make another trek there becuse I ran out of time and was only part way finished in HS. I did manage to pick a few little somethin somethins. But they have wonderful little things for the garden.

Spring Cleaning and Bally"s

Just finsished cleaning out my closet and linen cupboard. After my first reaction of  N-o-o-o-o-o what have I started I got into it. Now my upstairs smells of lavendar and mint. How did I accululate so many towels and pillow cases? Now they are bagged up and waiting to go on the curb for the OFCP.  It is my lame-o / OCD personality that enjoys a tidy closet. Between you and me I will occasionally sneak a peek into a just cleaned cupboard and just admire how organised it looks. I am off to take a well earned shower , have a cup of tea and start another little baby cap for the Montfort. That's where Holly is having the babies so I am donating as many caps as I can whip up before then.

Tonight I am off to Ballygiblin's for supper with Chris and Ro ( and their wonderful hubbys). They are giving Holly a baby shower later this month. I do have smarvelous friends!!

A Glorious Day in the Neighbour Hood

Looks like a spectacular weekend. Sunny and 10 today and looking like a carbon copy tomorrow. Iain left with his peeps this morning at 4 for a week of golf in sunny Myrtle Beach. The kittys are anticipating open windows and sunshine. Think I will be cleaning up the clothesline and pegs today. Crocuses and snow drops peeking through.
